8 Best LoyaltyLion Alternatives for 2026

September 30, 2026

LoyaltyLion alternatives are loyalty and rewards platforms that replace LoyaltyLion, usually because a store wants a paid plan below $199 a month, needs loyalty to run beyond Shopify, or wants more hands on support without a custom enterprise contract. This guide groups eight of them by the reason merchants actually leave, lists the published price for every vendor, and ends with a points migration checklist that keeps member balances intact.

LoyaltyLion is a mature product. It holds a 4.6 star rating across 542 reviews on the Shopify App Store, its Klaviyo integration covers both email flows and events, and its Classic plan includes a loyalty page built for you. Most teams who switch are not escaping a weak product. They are escaping a pricing ladder or a platform boundary that no longer fits the business they have become.

What are LoyaltyLion alternatives?

LoyaltyLion alternatives are the loyalty, rewards and referral platforms a merchant can move to when LoyaltyLion stops matching their budget, their sales channels or the level of support they need. The realistic options fall into three groups: lower cost Shopify apps with public pricing, omnichannel platforms that also run in physical stores, and API first engines that sit outside any single ecommerce platform.

If you are building a shortlist from scratch rather than replacing one vendor, start with our customer loyalty platform buyer's guide, which sets out the scoring framework every vendor on this page should be measured against. For the program side of the decision, our companion piece on how to choose loyalty management software covers what the software actually has to manage once it is live.

Why do merchants look for a LoyaltyLion alternative?

Four triggers account for most LoyaltyLion switches, and every one of them shows up in LoyaltyLion's own published plans rather than in anecdote.

01

Price at volume

The Shopify listing goes from a free plan capped at 400 monthly orders straight to Classic at $199 a month. Advanced and Plus are quote only, so budgeting past 500 orders means a sales call.

02

Shopify only

LoyaltyLion describes itself as built exclusively for Shopify. A second storefront on another platform, a native app backend or a non Shopify POS sits outside the program.

03

Onboarding pace

Classic ships with a loyalty page built for you and dedicated onboarding. That suits teams who want it done for them, less so teams who want to configure and launch the same afternoon.

04

Support by tier

Twice yearly performance reviews start on Advanced and quarterly strategy reviews on Plus. Teams on Classic who want a strategist in the room have to move up to a custom quote.

None of these is a defect. They are the result of a deliberate positioning: LoyaltyLion is built as a premium, Shopify native product with a managed layer on top. If that is what you need, it is a strong fit. If your constraint is budget, channels or speed, the alternatives below solve for it more directly.

How much does LoyaltyLion cost in 2026?

LoyaltyLion pricing starts free for stores under 400 monthly orders, then moves to Classic at $199 a month including 500 orders, with Advanced and Plus on custom quotes. The figures below come from LoyaltyLion's own pricing page and its Shopify App Store listing as of September 2026.

PlanPublished priceOrder volumeWhat it adds
Free$0Up to 400 monthly ordersPoints for on site activities, discount rewards, branding, analytics, 7 languages
Classic$199 per month500 orders includedLoyalty page built for you, pre built earning rules, Klaviyo flows, dedicated onboarding, 14 day trial
AdvancedCustom quoteSet by contractLoyalty Challenges, multiple POS locations, 130+ languages, twice yearly performance reviews
PlusCustom quote10,000+ ordersAI recommended rewards, advanced Klaviyo events, automated flows, quarterly strategy reviews

One clause deserves attention in any LoyaltyLion pricing review. The pricing page states that if you exceed your contracted order threshold by more than 25 percent for three consecutive months, LoyaltyLion will contact you to discuss your plan. In practice, a strong season can move you into a new quote. Model your peak months, not your average, and weigh the result against your customer lifetime value before you decide whether the curve still pays for itself.

The 8 best LoyaltyLion alternatives in 2026

The eight platforms below are grouped by the reason you are leaving. Prices are the published entry points as of September 2026, taken from each vendor's pricing page or Shopify App Store listing. Loyalty vendors reprice often, so confirm before you sign.

SUPPORT DEPTH

Gameball Enterprise, Talon.One Professional

A named success manager and scheduled reviews without starting at the top custom tier.

1. Gameball

Gameball is the strongest fit when the reason you are leaving LoyaltyLion is that your business no longer lives entirely inside Shopify. It runs points, tiers, challenges and referrals as one loyalty program, with gamification mechanics layered on top, and the same member wallet can serve a mobile app, a second storefront or a fintech product. On the Shopify App Store it lists free up to 100 monthly recurring customers, Starter at $34 a month for up to 1,000 orders with five VIP tiers and gamification tools, and Pro at $159. Direct plans on Gameball pricing start at $399 a month for Growth, and Enterprise from $599 adds a dedicated customer success manager, a Slack channel, 24/7 support and quarterly business reviews.

Where it is weaker: if you run one Shopify store and only want a points widget, this is more platform than you need.

2. Smile.io

Smile.io is the safest like for like replacement when price at volume is the problem. Its Shopify listing shows a free plan up to 200 orders, Essential at $15 for 500 orders, Standard at $79 for 1,000 and Growth at $199 for 2,500 orders plus $20 per additional 100. That means a store doing 1,000 orders a month can stay on a public $79 plan rather than negotiating a quote. It also carries a 4.9 star rating across more than 4,600 reviews.

Where it is weaker: at the $199 Growth level, cost per order is lower than LoyaltyLion Classic but the overage keeps climbing with volume. Our deeper review of Smile.io alternatives covers where it tends to run out of road.

3. Rivo

Rivo suits teams leaving over price and onboarding pace. It is free up to 200 orders, $15 on Essential, $49 on Scale with 400 orders included and $20 per additional 100 capped at $499, and $499 on Plus for up to 2,500 orders. Every plan includes 24/7 live chat, and the setup is fully self serve, so a team can launch without waiting on a scheduled onboarding slot.

Where it is weaker: Rivo is also a Shopify only app, so it does not solve the platform trigger, and the Scale plan's per order overage reintroduces the volume problem at a higher order count. We mapped that curve in our guide to Rivo alternatives.

4. Yotpo Loyalty

Yotpo Loyalty makes sense if you already run Yotpo reviews or SMS and want one vendor, one data layer and one invoice. The Shopify listing shows a free plan under 100 monthly orders and Pro at $199 a month, plus 8 to 20 cents per order from 500 monthly orders, with custom pricing above 5,000.

Where it is weaker: the entry paid price matches LoyaltyLion Classic, and per order fees on top of the base rate make the bill harder to predict. Model it at your peak month before signing.

5. Marsello

Marsello is the pick when physical stores are part of the picture and LoyaltyLion's Shopify boundary is the constraint. It is priced per site, at $60 a month on Loyalty Launch and $120 on Loyalty Accelerate, with fair use limits of 25,000 and 50,000 monthly orders. Both plans cover POS and ecommerce as one program and include digital wallet passes; Accelerate adds VIP tiers, API access, custom segmentation and points expiry.

Where it is weaker: per site pricing adds up across a large estate, and marketing and SMS are metered add ons from $15 per 1,000 customers and $0.028 per SMS credit. For multi location chains, our breakdown of retail loyalty software covers the POS questions to ask any vendor.

6. Stamped

Stamped suits brands that want reviews and loyalty reporting side by side. Its pricing page states that plans start at $199 a month for a single product and $798 a month for multi product access, with Reviews at $199 and Repeat at $299, and extra domains at $100 a month beyond the two included.

Where it is weaker: Stamped is built for Shopify and Shopify Plus, so it does not help with the platform trigger, and a multi product bundle costs well above LoyaltyLion Classic.

7. Okendo Loyalty

Okendo pairs loyalty with its review product on Shopify. Pricing starts from $19 a month and tiers by monthly order volume across brackets from 0 to 200 orders up to 10,001 and above, with bundles that include Loyalty saving up to 40 percent. For a small store that wants rewards and reviews together without a $199 entry fee, that is a genuine price advantage.

Where it is weaker: Okendo is built for Shopify, and its platform and bundle subscriptions normally require annual terms, so the flexibility is lower than the entry price suggests.

8. Talon.One

Talon. One is a promotion and loyalty engine you build against rather than an app you install. Every plan has no limit on API calls, Professional adds a dedicated customer success manager and campaign setup support, and Enterprise adds customized SLAs. It runs wherever your engineers point it, which removes the Shopify boundary entirely.

Where it is weaker: no price is published, the Starter tier assumes at least 500,000 coupons, and there is no merchant facing interface out of the box. This is a build, not an install.

LoyaltyLion vs Gameball: how do they compare?

LoyaltyLion and Gameball differ most on platform coverage and on where support sits in the price ladder. The comparison below uses only each vendor's published pricing and Shopify App Store listing.

The honest summary: LoyaltyLion is the stronger choice for a Shopify only brand that wants a managed loyalty page and deep Klaviyo flows on day one. Gameball is the stronger choice when loyalty has to follow the customer across channels, or when you want paid features below the $199 line.

How do you migrate from LoyaltyLion without losing points?

You migrate safely by freezing earning, exporting every balance, reconciling the point liability and verifying a sample before you switch anything on. Point balances are a promise to your customers and a liability on your books, so the migration is the risky part of switching, not the setup.

1
Freeze and export

Pause earning in LoyaltyLion, then export every member with balance, tier, join date, and lifetime points earned and redeemed.

2
Reconcile the liability

Total the outstanding points and price them at your redemption value. Finance signs off this number before anything moves.

3
Map rules, tiers and flows

Match each earning rule, reward and tier threshold to its equivalent. Rebuild any Klaviyo flows that listen for LoyaltyLion events.

4
Import into a sandbox

Load the file, then spot check 20 accounts across every tier. Balance, tier and expiry date all have to match the export.

5
Tell members first

Email members before the cutover, not after, confirming balances carry over and explaining what changes and when.

6
Cut over and keep the old data

Go live, keep the export and the old account readable for 90 days, and brief support for balance questions in week one.

Two details decide whether this goes smoothly. Confirm in writing that the new vendor imports historic balances and expiry dates rather than current totals alone, and agree who owns the reconciliation if the numbers disagree. Klaviyo is the step teams most often forget: LoyaltyLion's flows and events feed a lot of lifecycle email, and every one of those triggers has to be repointed before the old account is switched off.

LoyaltyLion switch checklist

  • Full member export with balance, tier, expiry and lifetime earned and redeemed
  • Outstanding point liability priced and signed off by finance
  • Every earning rule, reward and tier threshold mapped or consciously retired
  • Klaviyo flows, segments and events repointed to the new platform
  • POS locations and on site widgets replaced before the old script is removed
  • Sandbox import verified against 20 real accounts across every tier
  • Member email sent before cutover confirming balances carry over
  • Old account kept readable for 90 days after go live

How do you know the switch actually worked?

Hold out a control group, or you will never know. Comparing enrolled members against non members flatters every loyalty platform, because your best customers enroll first. Exclude 5 to 10 percent of eligible customers from the new program at launch, keep them out for 90 days, and compare repeat purchase rate, average order value and redemption rate between the two groups.

2x+Growth vs industry average for companies with a real loyalty effect (Bain)
1 in 10Companies that actually achieve that loyalty effect (Bain)
10 to 15%Typical revenue lift from personalization (McKinsey)
71%Consumers who expect personalized interactions (McKinsey)

The benchmark worth aiming at is high. Bain's research found that companies enjoying a genuine loyalty effect grow at better than twice the average for their industry, and that only about one company in ten gets there. McKinsey puts the typical revenue lift from personalization at 10 to 15 percent, which is why segmentation depth belongs on your evaluation sheet next to price.

Our guide on how to measure loyalty program success lists the metrics to track from day one, and calculating loyalty program ROI shows how to turn them into a number finance will accept. If the switch is also a chance to rethink mechanics, tiered loyalty programs and daily streak campaigns are the two structures that most reliably lift repeat rate.

How Gameball helps

Gameball runs points, tiers and challenges, referrals and promotions from one member profile, so a customer's balance follows them across your Shopify store, your app and your physical locations instead of living inside one channel. Analytics and intelligence reports RFM segments, redemption behavior and cohort repeat rate, and retail and ecommerce teams can bring historic balances and tier states across rather than starting members from zero. Book a demo to walk through a LoyaltyLion migration against your own export, or compare Gameball pricing with your current bill.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best LoyaltyLion alternative?

It depends on why you are leaving. Smile.io and Rivo are the closest swaps if price at volume is the issue, Marsello suits retail chains with physical stores, Talon. One suits engineering led stacks, and Gameball fits brands that need one loyalty program across Shopify, apps and other channels with paid plans below $199.

How much does LoyaltyLion cost?

LoyaltyLion is free for Shopify stores under 400 monthly orders. Classic costs $199 a month and includes 500 orders, a loyalty page built for you and dedicated onboarding. Advanced and Plus are custom quotes, and LoyaltyLion may revisit your plan if you exceed your contracted order volume by more than 25 percent for three consecutive months.

Does LoyaltyLion work outside Shopify?

No. LoyaltyLion states on its integrations page that it is built exclusively for Shopify, covering Shopify, Shopify Plus and Shopify POS. If you sell through another ecommerce platform, a native mobile app backend or a non Shopify point of sale, you need a platform with API access that operates outside the Shopify stack.

Who are LoyaltyLion's main competitors?

The competitors merchants compare most often are Smile.io, Yotpo Loyalty, Rivo, Okendo and Stamped among Shopify apps, Marsello for omnichannel retail, and Gameball and Talon. One for multi channel or API first programs. Each wins on a different trigger: price, platform coverage, onboarding pace or support depth.

Can you move loyalty points from LoyaltyLion to another platform?

Yes. Pause earning, export every member with balance, tier, expiry date and lifetime points, then import into the new platform's sandbox. Spot check 20 accounts across tiers before going live, email members before the cutover, and keep the old account readable for 90 days in case balance disputes come up.

Is there a cheaper alternative to LoyaltyLion Classic?

Yes. Several apps publish paid tiers below $199 a month: Smile.io at $15 and $79, Rivo at $15 and $49, Okendo from $19, and Gameball Starter at $34 for up to 1,000 orders. Compare features at your real order volume, since overage fees can close the gap as you grow.
